I picked it up from the showroom a few days ago, my initial thoughts were;

• Wow So Smooth
• Nicely responsive
• Great gearbox and clutch
• Light steering and feels like a light bike
• Good real brakes
• No vibration
• Suspension feels a bit hard at standard set up
• Seat OK but I’m sure can be improved
• The hand grips are quite hard and feel small, I will replace them.

So that was the 30 minute ride home. Today was the day for a quick spin around the Samoeng Loop Roads, they were dry but the sky was threatening rain.

The bike was excellent on every level, plus it has soul and character and you know you are riding an iconic modern classic brand without the short comings that usually go with the experience It handled well and the Pirelli rubber felt planted at all times , the brakes very positive but wow that smooth engine and gearbox effortlessly delivered, the gear ratios were perfect for me and the engine braking was spot on.

All in all a great cheap modern classic retro big bike We have 5 more coming in the next 3 months and more ride reports will follow, I just hope that the components stand up to the test of time and it stays as smooth as this!!

This Royal Enfield Interceptor is going to be a massive hit in Asia if the factory can keep up with demand, but more importantly if the engineering lives up to the standards we require, I’ve got a feeling it will, I can’t wait to ride it again in a few days!!
